2016 PJFF Poppy Jasper International Film Festival poster

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Previously called “The Poppy Jasper Short Film Festival”, it has been updated to the “Poppy Jasper International Film Festival”. It is a project, under the auspices of Poppy Jasper, Incorporated, a tax exempt 501 (c) (3) Public Benefit Corporation, dedicated to giving filmmakers of all sorts of films a venue to showcase their work, participate in workshops, network with fellow filmmakers, and share artistic expression with independent filmmakers.

Morgan Hill, CA is a charming town located in southern Santa Clara Valley, approximately 20 minutes south of San Jose on Route 101, 1 hour & 20 minutes south of San Francisco and just an hour’s drive from the Pacific Coast at Santa Cruz or Monterey / Carmel regions. Surrounded by the Santa Cruz and Diablo mountain ranges, Morgan Hill is home to many fine wineries, hiking trails, and restaurants, as well as the semi-precious stone, Poppy Jasper, from which the festival’s name is derived. Poppy Jasper, a world-renowned, semi-precious gemstone unique to Morgan Hill, is characterized by red and “poppy-yellow” circles (orbs) on a field of white or black.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The mission of the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival is to showcase emerging independent films. We offer filmmakers public screenings, exposure to industry professionals, and the opportunity to further their own skills. We pride ourselves on offering an intimate setting for audiences to interact with filmmakers and view films they might not otherwise get the opportunity to see.
